Emergency food assistance once each month on Wednesdays is available for people in need.
Confidential service provided by helpful volunteers.
Children’s Summer Camps
For 6 weeks of every summer, the Lower Hall is bustling with children playing and enjoying our summer camp program offered to kids aged 5 - 12 yrs old from the community.
Camps are offered at low cost to parents and include swimming at a local lake and pool, games on-site in the Lower Hall, and trips to local attractions and the library. Camps run weekly from Monday to Friday.
Registration is required.
Community Growing Garden
Locals have been growing their own flowers, organic vegetables, and herbs at our community garden site for more than 25 years.
It’s a peaceful oasis with more than 50 plots arranged around the community space.
New garden plot managers welcomed.
Soup’s On Lunch Program
Nutritious lunch is provided to all who gather to socialize and share in the Lower Hall. Soup and sandwich menu changes weekly. Held Tuesdays through the Fall and Winter months.

Income Tax Completion Support
Volunteers offer community members support to complete their Income Tax Returns. The FRI and its volunteers act as a partner to the Canada Revenue Agency.
Food Bank Café
Food Bank clients enjoy tea/coffee and conversation in the Lower Hall while they await to fill their order.
Wednesdays every week.
Christmas Support & Toy Store
Helping to ensure everyone who needs support can celebrate and enjoy the holidays, the FRI offers low-income and in-need families Christmas hampers and a toy store shopping experience.
Registration for both programs is required.
Food Bank
Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon by pre-arranged appointment.
Community members in need are eligible once each month to receive a three-day supply of pre-packed bags of food staples, canned goods, and fresh vegetables depending on donations.
Call 902 477 5090 and leave a message with your name and contact phone number indicating your wish to receive Food Bank support.
Messages will be returned on Tuesdays for the next day’s Food Bank distributions.
Once confirmed with a phone call as an expected client, visit Wednesday morning by entering the kitchen door, take a number and enjoy tea/coffee and snacks until your number is called.
Food Bank clients are escorted individually to collect their orders. Pet food is occasionally available, depending on donations. Feel free to indicate when you call, any specific needs or requests.
Community Garden
2-plus acres of garden plots and community space
With 55 plots and 35 gardeners involved, you can join a friendly network of gardeners who enjoy their own fresh herbs and vegetables every year.
Community garden surplus is also used for harvest supper events and contributed kindly to the Food Bank.
New growers always welcomed.
